In conversation with Dr ANN OLIVARIUS
A series of conversations with Dr Ann Olivarius.
Dr Ann Olivarius - is a ground-breaking feminist lawyer, philanthropist, financier, and scholar – she fights discrimination, sexual misconduct including online abuse, and childhood sexual abuse. As a powerful champion of women’s rights, she was one of the architects of Sexual harassment law - she brought the first case in the United States – Alexander v Yale, (while still an undergraduate) formulated the legal theory and got a Connecticut court to say ‘sexual harassment violated the law in the United States.
She worked with Nelson Mandela on several key societal initiatives to make lasting impact and her moto is unashamedly authentic to who she is; “Do good and earn a lot of money at the same time”.
Ann believes “we are all responsible for writing the scripts of our own lives” and that taking the time to understand and work on ‘what is my script today and what’s it going to look like in 10 years -time’? - helps achieve happiness.
Her extraordinary energy and sense of purpose is summed up by her need to ‘knock it out of the excellence park’ underpinned by her strong belief in ‘paying it forward’ and always being grateful for the gifts she has in her life.
We loved her sense of seeing the bigger picture and her role in it; “I always think consciously about what I can bring to this equation that will bring value to; me, my family, my community and the world, if I should be so lucky”.
