In conversation with donna lancaster - grief expert
“Grief is the gateway to joy”, says Donna Lancaster, co-founder of the six day transformational retreat The Bridge Retreat.
Here she talks with Erika and Debbie about the need for us all to grieve the natural losses and transformations that all of us face as we go through life. She describes ageing as the ultimate “spiritual practice” as it forces us to go inside and understand better how we tick. She believes that it is only by grieving and letting go of past hurts that we can really heal and live full on joyful and compassionate lives.
Her work on body psychotherapy is well known as she encourages people to not “do grief from the neck up”. She says that grief is visceral and in order to heal we need to work with the body as well as the mind - this can involve dance, yoga all different kinds of body work. Her retreat is well known as ‘crossing the bridge” and is widely written about in the national and international media and is supported by well known names such as Thandie Newton.
A deep but uplifting conversation - especially recommended for our difficult times.
